It's not a ring post!

I had so much fun in the studio last night finishing up some of the pieces here that I'll be sending to Poppy next week. I was photographing them this morning and decided that I should do a really big piece with these three images below.

"The Eternal Love of Roger and Blithe". I'm thinking LOTS of chain and additional tiny hearts floating through out. Well, we just found out that we didn't make it into the Brookside art annual. Guess that just gives me more time to build up some inventory and experiment on new designs!

ring a Day #29

The week seemed really long but it finished nicely this evening. Came home from work and caught a quick nap then had some leftover quiche before heading down to the studio. Got four pieces finished that I'm sending to Poppy in Columbia tomorrow. Then decided that for my ring today I wanted to make it completely with cold connections. An idea popped into my head and I sketched it out then made myself a template. I like this one. I will definitely try making it again to polish up the quality a bit, I'd never done little fold over tabs like this.

ring a Day #28

I hung out at the coffeeshop way too late this evening so am just sneaking this ring in with minutes to spare. It's another made from the junk drawer in my kitchen, that drawer has not failed me yet! Tonight I pulled out these two pretty red plastic wall anchors, some wire and twine. I like the shape created by the anchors and color is always important to me in my jewelry. Color is one of the main reasons I began working with street signs!

ring a Day #27

I've never really made anything delicate looking before, this is certainly different for me. The heart shape is what i like to use as a nose on my skulls, just picture it upside down. Can't believe the first month of rings is almost done, time has been flying!

ring a Day #24

Today's ring is made from copper, steel wire, paper and a vintage flower candle holder. Been anxious to use these flowers, just love them.

Worked in the studio quite a bit this weekend. I started making another set of king/queen skull necklaces. I put them together a little different so when they are done I'd like to post them and get your feedback as to which style you like better. In between the studio we've been working on taxes,I'll be so happy when that is done and I WILL be more organized this year so that next year goes smooth and easy!

Valentines

Pink tissue paper forms the backdrop for our valentine window display at the store, inspired by pinatas.

A quick ring for today made from some floral wire that we used in the store for our christmas decorations. I really like the way this one feels on the finger, will definitely incorporate this shape into a more permanent ring. Tomorrow nights ring will be based on our valentine window.

ring a Day #19

AAH, donuts! I ate about three of these first before I had the patience to cut a whole in one. I LOVE donuts! Tonight I am actually going to bed on time,so rare anymore. Im taking up a cup of sleepytime tea and the new tool catalog from Rio Grande that I got in the mail today. See you all tomorrow.

Jolly King Roger & Queen Blithe

Got to play in the studio all day today, I sure love that! It would be so wonderful to spend every day like that, maybe someday. I made this king and queen necklace today and got a few more pieces cut/laid out. I was a bit upset to not have finished more but i guess some days just need to be taken up with experiment.

As I'm looking at these photos Im already getting ideas of how I will assemble them the next try.

Rings #17 &18 can be seen in my Flickr. This challenge has been so inspiring, it's the whole reason that today's necklaces came to be!

ring a Day #12

I've been inspired by some of the stacking rings that other artists have done for their Ring a Day. I've never done a stacking ring(for that matter I don't make rings very often!) and thought i would try one. Tonight's ring is the first of three pieces. It's been cut from a curve in the road street sign.

Fun book and Ring a Day

Tonight's ring was made with items that friends brought me,some steel wire and old lace.

Wanted to share this fun book with you that I recently bought at work. Its full of fashion images that you can create the patterns for and to design your own jewelry or clothing. Something fun to sit with when your having a creative block or home sick in bed!
