Double Bubble Heart

We are putting in a children's department and have been designing and setting up for the last two months. Our grand opening is next wednesday. I've been documenting the change from shoe dept. to kid's dept. and will reveal the new space next wed. evening. This necklace is one small piece of a display that we're setting up in one of the cases. I can't wait to finish the other pieces of jewelry!

Monday Morning

UPDATE:
It was a great day! Got lots of pieces cut out; unfortunately my two fingers were included!! Pirate band aids do ease the pain though.

Good Morning! I've taken today off from work so that I could work in my studio all day. I have 8 weeks until the Brookside Art Fair and have A LOT to make. I do pretty good working in the studio after work during the weekdays but usually don't manage to get much done on the weekends so figured I'd better take a couple of days between now and May to really produce. I can get get quite a bit done when home by myself. I drove Bryan into work this morning just to make sure I got up and moving. Decided since I was doing that I might as well go in and have some breakfast at the cafeteria. So, I've started the day with some bisquits and gravy, bacon, orange juice and coffee and then I had to have one of the great( and addictive!) granola bars that they make.

I took some photos last night for a new postcard. We've used the same image for the last two years and the Hearsay Heart necklaces that I make have changed a bit since that photo so , time for a new shot. Decided to include a bunch of different styles of necklaces for this card.

Inspiration-PAPER

This is my desk at work and my inspiration board. I was looking at it a couple of days ago and it kinda struck me funny that so many of the images pinned up there are made of paper. If you asked me what inspires me Im not sure that I would have said Paper.

A closer view of the items. I about died when I came across this photo of Alice Cooper, always inspiring to me! When I was in Michael's last week I picked up these paper frames, thought they might be cute to take photos with my earrings.
All of these paper images reminded me of some paper earrings from my own collection of jewelry.  I bought these in the late eighties to early nineties.  The first two pair I purchased at the Plaza Art fair and the last pair was purchased back when I lived in Memphis at the Pink Palace Crafts fair.

Birds and Hoops

It was a good week in the studio, got these three birds made and four pairs of my new license plate hoop earrings. We hung out with friends at the coffee shop tonight trying to come up with names for our jewelry items. So far for these two pieces we came up with "Ear Traffic" and "Tweet Sign". If a title strikes you as you look at these don't hesitate to leave a comment.

Have a great Friday everyone!!

Critique Me

Bryan and I have been trying to write our bio this week. Here is what we've come with. Any thoughts you have would be GREATLY appreciated.

BIO:

Bryan and Andrea Ring take pieces from the city such as street signs and license plates and combine them with precious metals to create fine art jewelry. Inspired by graphic city imagery Bryan and Andrea design and fabricate unique work in their midtown Kansas City, Missouri home and studio.

Mannequin Room

Just a fun picture from work. I spent a little time last week straightening up this room. She is actually the only mannequin we have from years gone by, she looks a bit lonely among the other forms.

Sunday

This has been a very productive sunday. Started the day off by sleeping in a bit then went to brunch at Lidia's with my mom and Gino to celebrate Bryan and I being accepted into the Brookside art fair. I LOVE brunch at Lidia's, it is always so yummy. We started with a caesar salad, fresh fruit, assorted breads and other little anti pasta. My main course was an omelet with salmon and goat cheese then you finish with all kinds of desserts. WOW!

Worked in the studio for a while when we got home. Bryan and I have been trying to come up with a few new designs and he sketched out this earring idea yesterday so I went down in the studio today and made a pair. We love the way it turned out, the earwire shape will change a bit but thats all. Its made from sterling silver, a residential road sign, & copper tubing. They look like little street lights so this one will be called the GO earring. We're going to spend an afternoon and make bunches of these little pods and make one massive necklace which will be named the Traffic Stopper!

We spent the next few hours working on getting our business tax stuff all together. This year we are going to be so much more organized. Bryan designed some spread sheets this past week that will really help. After that it was time for our usual sunday night walk and tea on the Plaza. It was like a ghost town out there tonight with the Superbowl being on. We're not into football so we always like to take advantage of getting out on that day since it's not so crowded in town!

Ok, time for a little magazine reading then off to bed. Lots to do at work this week, fresh spring windows and table top changes in the store.
