ring a Day #10

Today's ring is entitled "How Much will I Grow?". It is made from sterling silver, copper, street sign and vintage metal tape measure.

Saturday

Spent most of the day photographing jewelry then sizing photos to send in for my Brookside art fair application. These are the pieces I chose. We'll find out at the end of the month if we are in or not.

Saturday's ring was made up from more finds from the kitchen junk drawer. i'm really liking the shapes that I get from that drawer! I thought I would actually get into the studio this weekend and spend a little more time on the rings but not looking like it. Also, it's freezing down there! However, i think I'm being more inspired by these quick rings than if I were to go downstairs and sit at the bench.

It's Sugar's turn in front of the camera. She thought it would be appropriate for her to jump on into the photo booth. Man, Im really going to have to lint roll that black velvet now!

ring a Day #8

todays ring is made from nickel and copper. i love using my hydraulic press, really need to use it more than i do. the copper portion of this ring was formed with the press over an acrylic mold that i carved. i had made the mold years ago for some earrings and spoons.

the band has the word amour stamped on it.

took this photo of mikey tonight, he is now weighing in at 16.9 pounds. he's a handsome hunk of love! my sugar kitten is sitting on my lap and one of my hands right now so am typing this one handed!

Ring a Day #7

More great finds from the kitchen drawers. A rubber gasket of some sort, a key, some chain and a bit of lining from a jacket! I love the look of this one. The trick now will be to figure out how I can translate this feel into a more wearable piece(actually I just got an idea,HA!)

Don't forget to check out the other rings being made at Ring a Day.

Wintery day

It has been snowing like crazy here in Kansas City these past few weeks, in fact we haven't had snow like this for 20 years here! After dinner we went out for coffee none the less. The Plaza was like a ghost town when we got there but the coffeeshop was open and all the regulars were there! Apparently nothing keeps us from meeting up on our normal coffee nights. It was a great time! This is a view of our street on our drive back home.

Since I am on the topic of winter thought I'd share a little winter display that we made at work for one of the display cases in the kids department.

It's day 6 of the Ring a Day project. I made these while at the coffee shop tonight. This orange plastic bag was in the recycle bin just screaming at me to be turned into a ring.

Dave and Bryan decided to join me in the ring making fun. We have a wooden drink stir ring and a straw ring set with a coffee bean!
