#90
It was a nice day today, even with getting a root canal. Everything went smoothly and I had taken the rest of the day off from work so relaxed a bit and worked in the studio some. We then topped off the night by sitting outside at the coffee shop for awhile.

Ring a Day-still going strong!
Kind of a quick one tonight. These were some disks and domed pieces that were lying on the bench,so I stacked a few together and with a rivet VOILA!
This is #88. We are getting close to being a quarter way into the year!

Scribble-A Study of Line
Steel wire. I love how the color of the wire really makes it look like a pencil sketch. I'm liking these last two rings especially for the shadows that they create.

I've been playing around with the hydraulic press and pressing forms. Here is a wing pattern that I came up with. The wing is about 2.5 inches long. I'm imagining a large winged skull necklace with the wings being attached as hinges so that they can "flap" around the neck. Once we get the ventilation system hooked up in the studio this summer then I can get the pitch pot out and then take these formed wings and hand hammer even more detail into them, can't wait!

I'm so excited!
I finally found a place where I could order So-En magazine. I think this is the most inspiring magazine ever, even if I can't read it(it's japanese). Magazine cafe in NY has all kinds of international magazines, they will definitely be on my list of places to stop at when we are back in NY this August.
My ring tonight was a "sketch" in metal. It was just a quick thought that I had this evening so I went down to the studio and crudely assembled this. I will certainly spend a little time coming up with a pattern and re-make this with a bit more precision!
Made from copper and a cookie tin.

Look What I Won!!!
I won these beautiful sterling and peridot earrings from Ashley Akers. Check out her blog, Ashley is always working on something fun whether it be metalwork, knitting, sewing or baking. She is quite the talented lady!! I'm so jealous that she has flowers growing in her yard right now and I'm surrounded by snow again. I thought for sure we were done with the white stuff this year.

A tin can and some sterling wire, simple and quick! By the time we got home from having coffee and then setting the trash out, which was HEAVY because our fridge just died and I cleaned it out after work today, It was 11:00pm already. I did however come up with a new skull idea while fiddling around with the scraps on my bench trying to figure out what the heck I was going to make as a ring tonight.
I am so glad tomorrow is friday, although I don't really look forward to moving a fridge out of the house this weekend. Luckily though we have another in the basement that we can bring up or maybe just leave it down there and make myself walk up and down the stairs to get food! It would be nice to have a little extra space in the kitchen,we'll see.

ring 69 a.k.a. It's 10pm & I don't want to stay up late ring!
Some items from the top of my workbench. A neat washer thing from the hardware store and a couple of copper disks from a past ring idea that really didn't work as I imagined. Oh, and some steel wire to connect the three pieces!

Ring #66
A second version of "Unlock My Heart"(ring 65). I roller printed a flower pattern onto some sterling for this one, I like the way that part turned out quite a bit.

rings 64 & 65
Greeting card turned ring. The cat was balancing on a ball, it just seemed so perfect to be a ring!
Today's ring was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I really enjoyed the movie and I want each of the dresses that she wore!!

Another ring made while at Latteland this evening. Today is Bryan's birthday so staying out of the studio tonight. We had a great dinner at Oklahoma Joe's then finished with a latte and friends at the coffee shop. Wish we had taken tomorrow off from work so we could catch the midnight showing of Alice in Wonderland!
