Another Successful Halloween
Oh, it was another great Halloween! There were lots of screams and laughter on the front porch this evening and I was so excited that so many kids were dressed up this year, every one was definitely in the spirit. We had one little boy on the porch that was so thrilled with the house that he said, " Now this is Halloween!"
We added an arbor at the first set of steps to the house this year, turned out really cute. We always get so energized at the end of the evening, full of ideas for next year!!

sketching
A sketch of a necklace idea from Sunday. It was cold and I wasn't feeling too motivated to work on pieces for an upcoming sale so I sat in front of the window soaking in the afternoon sun and did this drawing. Most of the time I don't put ideas onto paper I just start cutting things out or rummaging through my scraps and come up with new designs. My father in law gave me a bag full of spent ammo recently and I've been anxious to use them in my jewelry. I started cutting them in slices and it hit me that the ends would make great eyes for one of my skull pieces which then started the whole idea above. i plan to use all the slices and make the chain from them. This will be my most ambitious piece, hopefully it makes it further than the sketch!

Anniversary
Today is my 8th wedding anniversary, yay! As I mentioned in my last post halloween is my favorite holiday so I of course made my wedding follow that theme. We even honeymooned in New Orleans and went on cemetery tours, it was great fun. Sure wish I was sitting at Cafe Du Monde right now, yum! I am ashamed to say that I am so far behind in decorating my porch for the big day and Bryan and I haven't even done a test run with the fog machines yet.
I have to add a funny story about the last photo. We are in the cemetery and I'm holding still for this pose but there are mosquitos all over my hands biting me, those darn little bloodsuckers!

The Weekend's Over
Just got back home from our weekly Sunday night coffee, guess the weekend is really over. It was actually a productive one so I shouldn't be too sad. I took Friday off from work and got lots of things done in the metals studio. I was so energized it felt like I'd had a pot of coffee or two.I can't wait for the day when I'm at home making jewelry full time! I came upstairs around 7pm to calm down a bit. Bryan and I went to dinner at our favorite place, Tarrantino's. Joe makes the best alfredo sauce I've ever had!! We finished the night with a walk around the Plaza and a cup of tea.
I have a couple of shows coming up soon and need to keep myself on track with making new items. Here are some of the pieces that I got cut out on Friday. Spent today in the sewing studio and made loads of bias tape, I've got 53 pot holders waiting for the bias edge to be put on!

inspiration#1
I just finished reading the latest issue of Gothic Beauty. This magazine is always so beautiful and always inspiring. This photo sparked some ideas, so I ran down to my studio and grabbed some beads and baubles.
I will keep you posted on the progression of the necklace that came to mind.

Hello
Hello and welcome to AMUCK. I am so excited to finally be starting my own blog. I will be taking you into my studio where I make jewelry using found objects, sterling, brass, and copper. The above photo is one corner of my metals studio(a.k.a. my basement).
I will also be posting items that inspire me and hopefully you as well!
